POSO impounds 70 colorum tricycles

SEVENTY colorum tricycles, particularly those without decal stickers, were hauled and impounded at the city plaza by the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) in line with its intensified campaign against vehicles plying the streets of the city without franchises from the city government.
POSO chief Carlito Ocampo said Oplan Zero-Colorum intends to clear the roads completely of colorum vehicles.
Ocampo said the proliferation of colorum tricycles have aggravated the traffic conditions in the city’s streets.
“This is why we devised an operational plan to support our anti-colorum campaign and also against jeepneys and buses operating out-of-line,” said Ocampo.
Ocampo pointed out that his office is determined not only to minimize, but also to resolve the cause of traffic congestion in the city.
Colorum operation carries a fine of P1, 000 for the 1st offense, P3, 000 for the 2nd offense and P5,000 for 3rd offense and a P400 per day impounding fee.
Ocampo encouraged commuting public to patronize tricycles only with franchise decal stickers to discourage non-franchise holders from plying the streets.
