Daily gridlock in Binmaley explained
PERHAPS the adage, “No pain, no gain” applies in the case of motorists traveling through Binmaley town.
Motorists going through the town of Binmaley will continue to experience delay in their travel time owing to two ongoing construction projects in the highway crossing the town.
Second Engineering District Engr. Rodolfo Dion said an asphalt overlay is being done to give way for the repair of the national road in Binmaley and two more lanes are being added to the existing two lanes of Gumapos Bridge.
He said the road had so many potholes because of the deteriorating asphalt surface of the road and its no longer economical to simply repair the potholes.
“It’s more economical to tear it up and do a new road overlay,” he said.
P20 million fund from the motor vehicle user’s charge (MVUC) is allocated for the repair of the national road in Binmaley.
The additional two lanes for Gumapos Bridge will soon enable more vehicles on opposite lanes to cross the bridge at the same time.
Meanwhile, the long awaited completion of Mariggay Bridge connecting Bonuan in Dagupan City and San Fabian town is expected before the end of August. It was year 2014 when the construction of Mariggay Bridge started with a P40 million initial fund but since no fund was allocated for the bridge in 2015, hence the delay.
The construction of the main bridge and the northern approach is done, while the construction of the southern approach is still ongoing. (Nora Dominguez)
