163 drug personalities nabbed

SINCE Double Barrel Reloaded (DBR) was launched in March, 163 drug personalities have been arrested in 154 anti-drug operations conducted by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
According to P/Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, PPPO’s chief of the police community relations, the arrests were made over a 41-day continuous operations from March 6 to April 20.
Of the 154 drug operations conducted, 41 were done through serving of search warrants, 91 through drug buy-bust operations, eight through police responses, four through Oplan Sita, two through the serving of warrants of arrest and two in checkpoint operations.
From these operations, 440 sachets of suspected shabu and two sachets of marijuana were seized.
While no death under investigation (DUI) was reported, the police operations suffered one casualty – a policeman was killed.
Teams for Operation Tokhang for past 41 days visited 1,875 houses of surrendered drug personalities and 1,108 new emerging drug personalities in drug watchlists.
The visits resulted in the surrender of 97 drug users and pushers among them were 23 drug personalities who surrendered in July 2016.
Meanwhile, the provincial police reported that seven of the 48 towns and cities have already been declared drug-free but five of these are still undergoing validation by PDEA.
The five are Natividad, San Nicolas, Bolinao, Agno and Alaminos City, and Florentino expressed confidence that they will be cleared by PDEA. (Leonardo Micua)
