TO IMPROVE TRAVEL TIME

THE Urdaneta Western Bypass Road being constructed to ease the traffic congestion in the city proper is expected to be completed finally this year.

Started in 2014 with P620 million by the Department of Public Works and Highways, the bypass road from Manila North Road in Barangay Nancayasan (MNR) exiting McArthur Highway in Barangay Nancamaliran in the city, will be completed with the recent release of another P280 million.

Willer Bince, Project Engineer of DPWH Region 1 said the bypass road will pass through the ricefields and residential areas of Barangay Nancayasan, Sto Domingo, Sta Lucia and will exit at Nancamaliran.

The bypass road is a 7.3 kilometer project that will enable motorists from Metro Manila to cut travel time to Dagupan City, Manaoag and vise versa since they will skip city traffic in Urdaneta.

Meanwhile, another bypass road will be constructed in the boundary of Pangasinan and Zambales.

Bince said the Mangatarem-Zambales road, a 30 kilometer road from Mangatarem that will connect to Sta. Cruz Zambales, already started right of way acquisitions.

The national government initially released P100 million to the Mangatarem- Zambales bypass road. (Nora Dominguez)
