MANGALDAN—Fourth District Rep. Christopher de Venecia urged students of Mangaldan National High School (MNHS) to be creative and learn to be critical thinkers in adapting to social media.

De Venecia told the students to adopt the habit of checking facts and to “ask important questions because not all you read in Facebook and other internet sites are true.”

“Read books and newspapers,” de Venecia, a columnist of Philippine Star, advised the students even as he urged students to take care of their school’s facilities and to help stop the culture of vandalism.

The occasion was the inauguration on Feb. 11 of a four-storey building with 16 classrooms for senior high school students’ use.

He encouraged the youth also to be active in extra-curricular activities for their own personal development which can help them develop people-skills for jobs they want for themselves.
His father, former House speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., also said in the same occasion that he envisions to see MNHS to become a university someday as it is the biggest national high school in Pangasinan. It has more than 8,000 students at present.

The young de Venecia’s mother, former Rep. Gina de Venecia, on the other hand, said MNHS is one of the most beautiful government schools in Pangasinan with a good ambience conducive for students to study better.

Most of the school buildings in the campus were credited to his parents who channeled their fund allocations to MNHS. (Tita Roces)
