Dayan moves to another safe house
URBIZTONDO—Ronnie Dayan, the controversial former driver-bodyguard-lover and alleged bagman of Sen. Leila de Lima, opted to move to another safe house after strangers have been noted to be observing activities around his house in Barangay Galarin here.
P/Chief Inspector Joshua Maximo, town police chief, said Dayan reported to them the sighting of unidentified men roaming around the barangay and the vicinity of his residence.
The first incident was, however, deemed a false alarm because the pick-up truck’s passengers (two males and an old woman) were making inquiries about farm products for sale, Maximo said.
The second incident involved men riding separately on a motorcycle ostensibly looking for their colleague who might have gotten lost in Galarin. The police failed to check on the suspects who immediately left the area.
He said the second incident so alarmed Dayan that he asked to be moved to another safe house.
Maximo said Dayan, who has a police security detail, only left his house with police escorts to look for a lawyer since he returned from the committee hearing at the Senate.
Dayan has since been back in Galarin, this town after he was sent home by the Senate that temporarily detained him in contempt for few hours on motion of Sen. Manny Pacquiao, who was irked by his inconsistencies that the only drug lord he dealt with was Kerwin Espinosa.
The Senate committee arranged for a face–to-face confrontation with Kerwin to validate their conflicting statements.
Dayan said he personally collected drug money from Kerwin for De Lima, a situation that Kerwin confirmed but differed on the dates. (Tita Roces)
