DA releases P600-K for Dagupan’s rice program

THE Department of Agriculture (DA) has issued a P600,000 check to Dagupan for its rice program to help local farmers mitigate the effects of climate change.
City Agriculture Officer Emma J. Molina said the amount is intended for the purchase of one rice reaper, two hand tractors, two power tillers and 66 units of knapsack sprayers.
Most of the 66 knapsack sprayers will be given to the guapple producers of Barangay Bacayao Sur.
For this, the city will have an equity share of P400,000 with free trainings to be given by the City Agriculture Office in the usage of the equipment. After that, these will soon be distributed to at least 203 farmers.
The farmers will come mostly from Barangays Mangin, Malued, Lucao, Bonuan Boquig, Tebeng, Salisay and Bacayao Sur. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
