PESO sees more applicants with jobs this year
LINGAYEN –The Pangasinan Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) is confident that by end of 2016, there will be more job applicants this year that shall have found work compared to last year’s 2,311.
This optimism was expressed by PESO manager Alex Ferrer after his office organized a job fair in observance of the 27th National Statistics Month (NSM) last October 26 at the PESO Building, Capitol Compound here.
The career expo was participated in by 13 local companies and 5 overseas firms accredited by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for long-term employment that listed over 1,500 job vacancies.
He said that the placement activity was held not only to promote the vision of Governor Amado Espino III to help Pangasinenses land stable jobs but to respond to planned “end-of-service” or contractualization of employees.
Meanwhile, he reported the decrease in unemployment rate in the province, from 8.2 percent last July 2015 to 5.4 percent of the same month this year.
PESO regularly conducts two career expos every month and several special recruitment activities upon requests of long-time partner companies. (With report from PIO)
