BLIND massage therapists occupying stalls at the second floor of Malimgas Market are now entitled to a 35 percent discount in their monthly stall rentals.

The discount is provided for in City Ordinance No. 2065-2016, authored by Councilor Redford Christian P. Erfe-Mejia, also known as an ordinance granting “Special Privilege for Blind Massage Therapist at Malimgas Public Market.”

The ordinance was approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod to underscore the city’s policy of the city to promote and protect the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities who are expected to make a significant contribution to the community.

Citing Section 192 of the Local Government Code of 1991, which grants tax exemption privileges, Mejia said that the Ordinance shall cover only blind massage therapists occupying General Merchandise stall numbers 22, 23, 24, 25 and 27 since April 30, 2014. (JCB_CIO)
