Revalidation ongoing – Sueno
NBP DRUG MATRIX
LINGAYEN –Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno said there is an ongoing revalidation of personalities mentioned by President Duterte in the drug matrix in the New Bilibid Prison.
“We’ll wait, there might be results in the next few days,” Sueno told newsmen when he came here for the Pangasinan Anti-Illegal Drugs Summit on Sept. 9.
Among the local officials included in Mr. Duterte’s matrix of illegal drug trade in the New Bilibid Prison are Fifth District Rep. Amado Espino Jr, former provincial administrator Rafael Baraan, and Second District Board Member Raul Sison.
Meanwhile, Sueno warned that “If Duterte were not elected president in this administration, in the next six years, the Philippines will become a narco-state.”
Sueno said the war on drugs today is aimed at preventing a narco-state, wherein drug lords lord it over the country. “Our politicians, from the governors, congressmen, mayors, even barangay captains will win their seats because of drug money,” he said.
He said the most powerful person in the Philippines will not be the president, neither the Senate but the drug lords similar to conditions in some countries in Latin America.
He cited indicators in Metro Manila where about 92 percent of their barangays are already drug-affected and so are about 46 to 55 percent of provinces outside Metro Manila.
“So about 60 to 65 percent of barangays in most provinces are already affected by drugs,” he said.
He said this happened not only because of proliferation of drugs but because of the unchecked protection provided not only by the police but also by local government officials.
“So who can go against our police, our local government officials?” he asked. He said only President Duterte, who is very passionate and willing to stake his life and his presidency just to eliminate drugs in the country, can.
He added that the President fears no one. “He is not afraid even of the Church. He is not afraid of the UN (United Nations), neither is he afraid of the United States of America,” he added.
“He (Duterte) said he will not bend, he will not surrender to anybody else but he will surrender, he will only follow instructions on bended knees from the Filipino people, not from anybody else. That is our president,” Sueno added.
Sueno, whose mother hails from Binalonan, Pangasinan, urged his fellow Pangasinenses to support Duterte. (Tita Roces)
