Barangay Pantal’s BADAC updates drug watch list
THER is no let-up in the campaign against illegal drugs in Dagupan City’s Barangay Pantal even after the surrender of 11 illegal drug users and runners to Mayor Belen Fernandez last July 1.
In an interview, Pantal Barangay Kagawad Jose Caneng said the village’s Barangay Anti-Drug Council (BADAC) that monitors the illegal drug users and pushers in their place, have started to invite them to the barangay hall to be warned of consequences if they don’t stop using and peddling.
He said all the drug-users and pushers in the village, numbering about a hundred, have been told about their inclusion in the barangay’s watch list that was submitted to the police. Most of the listed persons are out-of-school youths.
The list drug personalities have been encouraged to surrender voluntarily to the police and not to wait to be arrested.
Pantal’s BADAC also encourages the illegal drug users to be confined in rehabilitation centers for treatment, he said.
Caneng said Barangay Pantal is in full-support of President Rodrigo Duterte’s agenda of eradicating illegal drugs in the country.
Caneng admitted that the number of illegal drug users and pushers in their barangay has proliferated, and that there are more or less 100 users and pushers in the place who are mostly out-of-school youth.
Meanwhile Dagupan City Police reported the arrest of 25 illegal drug users and pushers in month of June, and most are from Barangays Pantal and Bonuan. (Yvonne David, OJT)
