Four LGUs avail of e-AlkanSSSya for contractual staff
THE local government units of Dagupan City, Sta. Barbara, Bayambang and Mangaldan availed of the e-AlkanSSSya project of the Social Security System (SSS) for contractual employees of the municipal and city government.
Marilyn Dioquino, accounts monitoring section of SSS Dagupan branch, told the KBP Forum, that discussions are ongoing with other LGUs to enroll their job-order or contractual employees with SSS.
“They (LGU) are having a hard time in accounting for the contribution and some employees would not want any more deductions from their salaries”, said Dioquino.
In the e-AlkanSSSya project, contractual government employees who are not members of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) can be registered in SSS wherein their contributions will become a counterpart of the LGU.
Employees’ counterpart will be deducted from their salaries.
In the case of the provincial government contractual employees’ contributions, these were shouldered by the provincial government.
“Some LGUs have a lot of job order employees who have meager salaries and the LGU could not also shoulder the full contribution, so that is where the problem lies”, said Dioquino. (Hilda Austria)
