SISON—Former Fifth District Rep. Mark Cojuangco conceded defeat in the gubernatorial race.

In his voice-recorded message sent to The PUNCH via e-mail, Mr. Cojuangco said he has accepted the decision of his provincemates in Pangasinan.

“I thank you all for giving me the chance to express and present all my dreams and planned visions and programs for Pangasinan,” Cojuangco said in Filipino.

“May God bless us all,” he added at the end of his 35-second message.

Mr. Cojuangco, son of former ambassador and business tycoon Ambassador Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr, lost to Board Member Amado Espino III, son of outgoing Gov. Amado Espino Jr. The young Espino is the Liga ng Barangay provincial federation president of Pangasinan.

The elder Espino defeated Mark Cojuangco’s wife, incumbent Rep. Kimi S. Cojuangco, in the Fifth District congressional race. (Tita Roces)
