CALASIAO—Re-elected Third District Rep. Rose Marie “Baby” Arenas trounced her two opponents, both former congressmen, in a landslide victory in the province’s top vote-rich area.

When she was proclaimed Tuesday, partial and unofficial results showed Arenas, who ran under the Liberal Party, flooded with 184,007 votes while former Representatives Generoso Tulagan Sr. (KBL) only had 51,182 and Eric Acuna of Partido Demokratikong Pilipino Laban with 21, 614 votes.

Arenas thanked the district’s electorate people for their overwhelming show of support to her congressional bid, something which she said was proof of her successful public service to her constituents.

“We did our job diligently and I feel overwhelmed that the people showered us with very wide margin,” she said.

“The black propaganda made against me worked against those behind it,” she added. “But with all humility, I reach out my hands of unity to all,” she added.

“I thank Our Lady of Manaoag and the people. Really, to say thanks is not enough,” Arenas said.

“Elections are over, time to heal wounds left by the political battle. Let us all buckle down to work as soon as our fresh mandate starts,” she said. (Tita Roces)
