DENR, DOST ink pact on Agno River Basin preservation
THE regional offices of the Departments of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Science and Technology (DOST) in the Ilocos have forged an agreement on Tuesday to collaborate closely for the rehabilitation, preservation and protection of the Agno River Basin (ARB) in Pangasinan.
The memorandum of cooperation tasks DOST to provide technical assistance in the planning and implementation of research studies about the river basin as well as its development and extension programs and to participate as a member of the Climate Change and Adaptation/Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee of Lower ARB Cluster while providing technical assistance in the aspect of disaster risk prevention and mitigation.
DENR will capacitate the stakeholders, local government units in the implementation of sustainable environmental natural resources management interventions within ARB, and implement and promote climate change adaptation and mitigation measures and lead in the advocacy on ARB related laws, rules and regulations through effective and efficient information, education and communication materials.
