Pangasinan State U to plant mangroves
THE Pangasinan State University (PSU)-Lingayen campus will lead the advocacy for planting of mangroves for environmental preservation and protection for the community it serves on April 27.
Dr. Armando Junio, campus executive director of PSU-Lingayen, said the initiative is part of the university’s mandate to adhere to its extension function in empowering the community to care for the environment.
“Tapped as potential partners of the extension activity are the coastal barangays of Capandanan in Lingayen and Naguilayan in Binmaley that were identified by the Provincial Agriculture Office and the Lingayen Agriculture Office,” he said.
Junio said some 7,000 mangrove seedlings will be planted by local government officials, PSU employees and students as well as scholars of the provincial government in PSU-Lingayen campus in the said coastal areas when the tide is low. (AMM_PIA-Pangasinan)
