Pangasinan language and history reference material launch
Preservation and propagation of Pangasinan language and culture promoted by the provincial government take the limelight anew with the recognition of local writers who won in the 5th Pangasinan Literary awards dubbed ‘Kurit Panlunggaring’ and presentation of revised Pangasinan orthography and Pangasinan history book ‘Pinablin Dalin’ draft teacher guides.
Governor Amado T. Espino, along with Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr., Board Members Raul Sison and Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial President Amado “Pogi” Espino, III and adjudicators of the writing tilt led the awarding ceremony for Kurit Panlunggaring winners during the commemorative program of 436th Agew na Pangasinan celebration held at the Sison Auditorium on April 5.
The awarding ceremony was followed by the presentation of the revised Pangasinan orthography and Pangasinan history book teacher guides to Governor Espino by the Provincial Historical and Cultural Commission (PHCC) led by Dr. Gonzalo Duque.
The revised Pangasinan orthography and ‘Pinablin Dalin’ history book draft teacher guides are reference materials which shall be used by the Department of Education (DepEd) schools divisions in Pangasinan for the integration of Pangasinan culture, arts and history for grades 3 and 4 instruction.
The Kurit Panlunggaring, a literary contest in Pangasinan language is a local version of Carlos Palanca awards that was launched in 2012 to help revive the sensitivities of Pangasinenses, especially the younger generation to embrace the distinct culture and heritage of Pangasinan, focusing on Pangasinan language preservation.
Local writers competed in contest categories under two divisions of Kurit Panlunggaring such as: youth (poetry and essay); and adult (poetry, children’s story and short story).
Winners in different categories received cash prizes ranging from Php5,000 to Php15,000./mgno
