LINGAYEN— The intercession of the provincial board was sought to finally settle the boundary dispute between the towns of San Fabian and San Jacinto, both belonging to the fourth legislative district of Pangasinan.

The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of San Fabian forwarded its Resolution No. 8-2016 asking the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s intervention for the determination of the boundary between Barangay Anonang of San Fabian and Brgy. Macayug of San Jacinto.

The resolution authored by Councilors Melody Rapallo and Liza Codilla cited the Velasco Engineering and Surveying Services report “that based on their survey, the political boundary of San Jacinto had encroached on the actual boundary of Anonang, San Fabian.”

The survey company was hired by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to conduct survey in different towns as in San Fabian.

The resolution also said a cadastral survey of San Jacinto claiming a total territorial area of 348,036 hectares, including contested portion, was approved in 2012.

“The municipality of San Fabian officials and the barangay officials of Anonang were not invited nor consulted during the cadastral survey of San Jacinto,” noted the resolution authors.

The dispute arose from a confusion about the location of a poultry farm in Sitio Kapayapaan, Brgy. Anonang.

The poultry owner was reportedly told by the local government unit of San Jacinto, that the farm is located in Macayug, San Jacinto, and not in Brgy Anonang.

The poultry farm was constructed and is now operating with permits and clearances secured from the municipality of San Fabian. (Johanne R. Macob)
