Kidney transplant package in region ready
FOR PHILHEALTH MEMBERS
DAGUPAN CITY— Member-patients of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) in Region 1 requiring kidney transplant may now avail of its kidney transplant package worth P600, 000.
This was made possible after a memorandum of agreement was signed by PhilHealth with Lorma Medical Center in San Fernando City, La Union for the kidney transplant package.
Rodolfo Del Rosario Jr, PhilHealth Region 1 vice president, said kidney transplant is part of the Z- package and now available for the members along with the other newest inclusions of special benefits.
Ruschelle Valmores of Lorma Medical Center said the hospital has been doing kidney transplant with already 13 cases since 2013 and the survival rate of patients has been one hundred percent.
Valmores said the average expenses for a transplant ranges from P1 million to Php 1.2 million.
“But for beneficiaries of Z- package, we reduced it to P850,000, to cover all the procedures to be done including for both the donor and the patient”, said Valmores.
She added the P600,000 from the Php 850,000 will be shouldered by PhilHealth while the remaining will be out of the package expenses of the patient.
“But we will also honor the No Balance Billing Policy for point of care or indigent patients”, said Valmores.
Del Rosario said members who would like to avail of the package will be evaluated and subject for approval of PhilHealth.
“We will of course consider those who have high chances of surviving the transplant”, said Del Rosario. (Hilda Austria)
