Fewer dengue cases this month

LINGAYEN— Here’s a bit of good news on the health front. Fewer Pangasinenses suffered from dengue this month.

According to Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa de Guzman, provincial health officer, the report from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) l showed that as of January 25 this year, there were 125 cases only compared to 202 in January 2015, or a 62 percent decrease.

Ages of cases ranged from 2 years old to 94 years old. Most commonly affected was below 1 to 4 years old age group. Majority of cases were male that has 68 cases.

The towns now on dengue watch list by the PHO are Asingan with 26 cases, followed by San Manuel (11), Pozorrubio (7), Manaoag (6), Calasiao and Sta. Barbara with 5 each.

There was no death recorded in January this year similar to January last year, the report added. (Tita Roces)
