New Bible in Pangasinan released
NOT A DYING LANGUAGE
THE feared extinction of the Pangasinan language, which is spoken by over 2 million people, will probably not happen anytime soon, with the release of a new Bible in Pangasinan.
The Jehovah’s Witnesses released the complete Pangasinan Bible Balon Mundo a Patalos na Masanton Kasulatan last December 11, 2015 during their convention in Dagupan City.
More than 10,000 copies of the new Pangasinan Bible were distributed for free after the country celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Say Santa Biblia a niluganan na saray masagrado a Libro ed Daan tan Balon Sipan, the first translation of the Old and New Testaments into the Pangasinan Bible, published by the Philippine Bible Society (PBS) in 1915.
The Balon Mundo a Patalos na Masanton Kasulatan is the Pangasinan translation of the 2013 edition of the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (NWT), produced and printed by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc., the publishing arm of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a religion with more than 8.2 million members worldwide.
The first edition of the NWT (Greek Scriptures), authored by an unnamed Bible Translation Committee, was published by the Watch Tower Society in 1950.
