De Lima: Roxas most qualified presidentiable
FORMER Justice Secretary Leila De Lima considers former Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and his runningmate Congresswoman Leni Robredo the candidates to beat in the coming May elections.
De Lima, in a talk to newsmen last week, expressed confidence that the ratings of the two in the surveys would improve once the campaign period begins.
“I am pretty confident about that. Ngayon kasi, nag-kaniya-kanya kami ng ikot. Bihira kaming umikot as a team this time, Each of us is making the rounds on his own. It is rare when we visit a place as a team,” she added.
Once the voters hear Sec. Roxas speaks and informs them of his platforms, they will be impressed,” De Lima, an LP senatorial candidate, said.
“Come to think of it. It’s not because he’s my President, “ she stressed. “ He is the most ready, given his experience, his exposure, his degree and even his bloodline,” the former DOJ secretary added as she recalled that Roxas’ grandfather and namesake Manuel was a former President of the Philippines and his father Gerardo was a former senator.
She said it was Sec. Roxas who proposed more funds for local governments based on their population.
“So, if more people would get to know Sec. Mar and Congresswoman Leni better, more will be convinced to support them”, she said.
However, De Lima also pointed out that said surveys cannot be 100 percent gauge but can be a useful guide to any one that when one sees that he or she is trailing behind, it should be an incentive for him or her to work harder. (Leonardo Micua)
