THE DOERS VS. TALKERS — One anchor of a radio station in Dagupan said Typhoon “Lando” discerned who among the candidates should be elected or not in the coming elections.

Those who did not move a bit or were no-show in the rains to help the people in their times of misery should not be trusted to help the people when they get elected, he intoned.

There were those who actually risked their lives during the typhoon so others may live and among them were Governor Amado Espino Jr. and Vice Governor Ferdie Calimlim and a host of their other co-workers.

At the height of Typhoon “Lando”, they manned and coordinated the tactical operations center of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in Lingayen, when there were many frantic calls for immediate rescue for people trapped by flash floods in Mangatarem, Aguilar, Bugaloon, Labrador and Mabini.

There too was Board Member Amado “Pogi” Espino Jr. who showed no reluctance in going to the field despite rising floodwaters to do his part in helping clear roads clogged by debris of falling branches of trees and uprooted trees.

That is why many were hurt when a blocktimer in another radio station criticized the younger Espino whom he saw on Facebook helping in a road clearing operation somewhere in southern Pangasinan. Some wondered if the fellow criticizing lifted a finger to help his suffering barangay mates.

Those pols who did not move wasted the golden opportunity to show to the people that they really deserve to be elected. Sayang. – Leonardo Micua

THE KAP’S BLUFF — Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City Barangay Captain Pedro Gonzales was not around when about 200 lawmen swooped down in a known drug lair in Sitio Silungan, right in his own turf Thursday afternoon and seized about P2-million worth of shabu.

He said in a Bombo Radyo interview that he was out buying medicine in Mangaldan town and snacks while the raid was going on. He said he was not informed about the raid.

Fact or bluff?

The lawmen are not dumb to tell anyone outside of their teams about the raid. If they did so, the operation would have turned useless with negative result.

He said it was enough that his kagawads were there to assist the operatives. Bluff na bluff ba ang rason?

Kapitan Pedro said he lauds the composite team for the successful raid. He said truth is, he does not want our Muslim brothers (whose group belongs the suspected pushers) to stay in his barangay.

He said he does not renege in his job to fight illegal drugs in his turf.
