Bataoil unopposed, other congressmen challenged
OF the six congressmen of Pangasinan, only Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil of the Second District will be running unopposed in the 2016 election.
First District Congressman Jesus Celeste will be challenged by retired Police Sr Superintendent Wilmer Panabang of Lingayen who filed under the Liberal Party (LP) and one Paul Tucay of Bolinao.
In the Third District, Rep. Rosemary “Baby” Arenas, the LP candidate will be challenged by former Congressmen Eric Acuna of the PDP Laban and Generoso Tulagan of the KBL.
Two unknown candidates will challenge Fourth District Rep. Georgina de Venecia: Mario Operania and Rolando Melendez, both of Dagupan City.
In the fifth district, which is believed to be the real battleground in this election, Rep Kimi Cojuangco is being challenged by outgoing Governor Amado Espino Jr. who is a candidate of the newly formed Partido na Pangasinan, and one Susan Costales.
The fifth district congressional battle is the extended battle between Espino’s son and namesake Amado “Pogi” Espino III, who is running under the National Unity Partry (NUP) and former Fifth District Congressman Mark Cojuangco of the Nationalist Peoples Coalition (NPC).
There are two other virtually unknown candidates who filed their COCs for governor.
In the sixth district, Rep. Marlyn Primicias Agabas will be challenged by Dr. Rolando Custodio of Tayug. (Leonardo Micua)
