LINGAYEN— Remittance of bills to the provincial government of Pangasinan will soon be processed online through the point-of-sale (POS) debit and electronic payment portal (ePP) facilities of the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).

Last week, Governor Amado T. Espino Jr.  and Provincial Treasurer Marilou Utanes signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with LBP’s Northern Luzon branches vice president Nomerlito Juatchon and Lingayen branch manager Liza Melendez for the launching of the new services.

The POS and ePP services are aimed at providing a safer and more convenient alternative payment channel to the payers or depositors.

“For example, instead of going to the Capitol paying the realty tax, later on, pwede na tayo magbayad through the internet using the electronic portal,” Juatchon said.

The POS terminal facility facilitates the authentication of payments and/or cash withdrawals using local issued automated teller machine (ATM) cards, debit cards, and cash cards while the EPP is an e-banking system that allows internet-based payment system.

Utanes said the system will also likely increase collection of taxes. (Johanne Macob)
