LINGAYEN –No regrets.

This was the terse reply of outgoing Governor Victor Agbayani to the question whether he and his family now regret their decision fielding his wife, Dr. Jamie Eloise, for governor in the recent mid-term election.

Mrs. Agbayani lost to Rep. Amado Espino Jr. of the second district of Pangasinan, but finished a strong second way ahead of Vice Gov. Oscar Lambino in the vote count.

“We had consultations with leaders, prayed for a decision and made a discernment that we had to put up an alternative to the other candidates who stood up,” he said.

He said that if faced with the same situation in the future, “We would probably do the same, presenting Jamie as an alternative candidate.”

“But this is the time when all sides should reach out to each other to heal the wounds so that we can move forward, together and united again,” Agbayani said.

But at the same time, the outgoing governor expressed hope that the programs and projects started by his administration, especially those that will directly benefit the people, will be recognized, preserved and continued by the incoming  Espino administration.—LM
