Red Cross’ Million Volunteer Run set Dec. 13

THE Philippine Red Cross (PRC) –Pangasinan Chapter has called on Pangasinenses to support this year’s Million Volunteer Run that will be held simultaneously nationwide on December 13.

Rex Vincent Escaño, chapter service representative of PRC-Pangasinan, said the million volunteer run, also known as “humanitarian run”, is a fund raising project of PRC that advocates disaster preparedness and community recruitment.

It will be held in Dagupan City while the fun run will held on December 12 in Urdaneta City.

The registration fee for the school-aged youth is P150, exclusive only to the three-kilometer run. For regular runners, the registration fee is P400 for the three, five and 10-kilometer run while P500 registration fee is asked for the 21-kilometer run.

The registration fee is inclusive of race bib, singlet, runners’ card, certificate and finishers medal for 21-kilometer runners.

The PRC-Pangasinan chapter, which targets more than 10,000 runners, aims to raise funds for the purchase of additional equipment, rescue trucks, and tents and to finance community disaster-resilient training and seminars.

PRC volunteers will undergo trainings on disaster preparedness, disaster risk reduction, first aid, basic life support, road rescue, land and water search and rescue and ambulance operations. (VHS/EMS/PIA-1, Pangasinan)
