SP hails ex-prov’l police head
LINGAYEN– The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) here commended the efforts of the former police head in the province through a resolution passed during their regular session on May 18, 2015.
Provincial resolution 1350-2015 expressed the provincial board’s “profound gratitude to Police Senior Superintendent Reynaldo Biay for his invaluable service to the province of Pangasinan as officer-in-charge (OIC) provincial director (PD) of the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office (PPPO).”
Biay, who served as OIC-PD from August 2014 to May 2015 was cited for his “aggressive and responsive leadership” as evidenced by the successful police operations against lawlessness and illegal activities in the province.
The resolution, authored by SP member Amado Espino III, acknowledged Biay’s efforts to promote good relations with provincial government by actively participating in and strongly supporting its various activities.
“The Sangguniang Panlalawigan recognizes with gratitude the tireless and selfless services of the PPPO, through P/Sr. Supt. Biay, in keeping the province of Pangasinan a safer place to live in,” the resolution said.
Meanwhile, the members of the provincial board invited the new police OIC, who earlier paid a courtesy call on the governor, to the SP’s question hour in its next regular session on May 25.
Board Member Alfonso Bince, Jr. said the appearance of Tamayo will allow him the opportunity to describe his plans specifically for dangerous drugs, peace and order, and the election process.
However, Board Member Ranjit R. Shahani in an interview criticized the designation of police OICs on short term as ‘politically motivated on the part of the DILG.’
“I think the Governor could be more effective in handling the peace and order if he had a man of his confidence,” said SP member Ranjit Shahani.- (Johanne R. Macob/PIO)
