EPAL’ POLITICOS WARNED

AS the campaign period for next year’s elections draws near, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is keeping project billboards off the hands of politicians.

Engr. Victoria Visperas of the DPWH-2nd District Engineering Office said Department Order No. 72 prohibits the printing of names and pictures of any politician or personality on the billboards for infrastructure projects of the government.

“DPWH project billboards should only contain the name of the contractor, project start date, contract completion date, contract cost, name of consultant, the DPWH implementing office, and the project’s funding source,” Visperas said.

These shall be installed in all project sites by the concerned implementing offices of DPWH for the information and guidance of the taxpaying public, she said during the Pantongtongan Tayo radio program of PIA-Pangasinan on Tuesday.

Under the D.O. 72, contractors are also directed not to place names or photos of politicians on their equipment or carry political billboard on their equipment. Otherwise, these contractors shall also be held accountable. (PIA Pangasinan)
