Balon Dagupan swimmers win cup
SPEEDO G-LEAGUE
THE Balon Dagupan Swimming Club (BDSC) emerged as this year’s champion in the recently concluded Speedo G-League Bangus Festival Swim Cup held last week at the city’s Olympic-sized poolside.
Garnering a total score of 1013 points, the BDSC defeated San Jose Galleon Swimming Club with 945 points and MDSF Vikings with 468, as they bagged the 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up, respectively. “It’s the first time in five years that the San Jose Galleon Swimming Club of Bulacan was defeated,” said Finnela Sim, a member of the Dagupan City Sports Commission.
BDSC bested swimmers from Baguio Mantas Swim Club, Modern Aquatic Swim Club, La Union Bullshark, Dagupan Bangus Swim Club, Blu Waves Swim Club, Ilocano Shark Swim Club, Torpedo Ray Swim Club, Tarlac Mako Shark Swim Club, Baguio Dusky Shark Swim Club, Urdaneta Aqua Bulls, UB Mako Sharks Swim Club and Baguio Aqua Dragons.
Dagupan is now a qualifier in the Speedo G-League national championship.
Mayor Belen T. Fernandez congratulated the 29-member BDSC for its victory. Ms. Fernandez supported the swimmers’ training in partnership with the Bert Lozada Swimming School. (CIO)
