PO2 Senen family gets tricycle from Cong. Gina
HELP FOR FALLEN 44
FOURTH District Rep. Gina de Venecia turned over last week a brand new tricycle and cash to the family of one of Fallen 44 slain police Special Action Force (SAF) members that resides in her district.
Romeo Senin, father of the late Police Officer 2 Romeo Senin II, his elder sister Ruby and his uncle Greg received the congresswoman’s assistance at the De Venecia residence in Barangay Bonuan Binloc here.
De Venecia said she used the cash donations she received from her colleagues in Congress on the occasion of her birthday knowing that part of the cash gifts will be used to help a family of Senen, one of the Fallen 44, from Pangasinan.
“Romeo was a good son and I’m sure if he were still alive, he would want to help his parents especially as they grow old,” de Venecia said.
She recalled that she, too, lost her daughter KC and she understands the pain felt by Senin’s family and recalled the words of Pope Francis that there are things that cannot be explained why they happened.
Still clueless, call for justice
Ruby, in behalf of her family, thanked the de Venecias for their help.
When asked by reporters what else might the bereaved family want from the government, she said the family wants to know and understand why no reinforcement came in time when it was needed to save the trapped SAF troopers.
“The shots were really fatal, in close range, and if only there was reinforcement, my brother could have survived,” she said.
Ruby added President Aquino should no longer pursue the Bangsamoro Basic Law and not defend those who committed mistakes. “He should abide by what is in the Constitution because the SAF troopers only enforces the law,” she added.
“The pain is too much. As the investigation drags on, justice seems elusive,” Ruby said.
She said she and her family suspect a cover up.
After her brother was buried in Iligan City, she said the long wait for justice has made their lives difficult and could only find consolation from the help and the letters of sympathy they received. (Tita Roces)
