It’s a “wrong” mistake!

Is Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas out of touch with the plight of his flock?
Instead of sharing with the poor folks the extra revenues collected during Pope Francis last January 15-19, these are being turned over to the pontiff to help finance his charitable projects. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines headed by Monsignor Villegas himself approved the donation.
Why the excess was sent all the way to Vatican when thousands of poor folks in the countty live below poverty line is beyond anyone’s comprehension If the bishops think that helping finance the Pope’s charitable project is rewarding, they are wrong. The latter has more resources — financially or otherwise — than their dioceses.
Obviously carried away by the excitement and emotions that went with the hosting of the highest church personality, the good pastor forgot the lamentable conditions of his kababayans who call the riverbeds their home, the squatters, the beggars and others similarly situated.
Didn’t the good CBCP president ever think that the Catholic Church is one of the biggest if not the biggest and richest corporations in the world?
The archbishop must have earned pogi points for the donation that will perhaps serve as a remind the Pope of him in the event that another wave of cardinals have to be appointed.
The Pope’s five-day visit was to see for himself the devastation wrought by typhoon Yolanda and to console — albeit spiritually — the thousand hapless victims.
It was not a fund-raising event.
