Alaminos City joins PNP-MG program
ADOPT A MARINE PROTECTED AREA PROJECT
ALAMINOS CITY— The city government has taken another step to help conserve and manage the marine resources in the city.
A memorandum of understanding was signed last week by the city government with the Philippine National Police – Maritime Group (PNP-MG) Regional Maritime Unit 1 and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources for the implementation of Adopt A Marine Protected Area ( AMPA) Project.
The signatories were led by Mayor Arthur Celeste, Police Senior Supt. Rico Payonga (PNP-MG) and Regional Director Nestor Domenden of BFAR.
A working group will be created to intensify the implementation of fishery law enforcement programs and to adopt strategies geared towards a more effective management of the Hundred Islands National Park and other marine protected areas within the city waters of Alaminos.
The PNP-MG has embarked on AMPA project to actively support the efforts of the national government agencies, provincial and local government units in protecting established marine protected areas /fish sanctuaries and to encourage all stakeholders to work together towards the goal of protecting and sustaining marine biodiversity.
