Asingan’s notorious drug dealer arrested

ASINGAN—The provincial government and the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office (PPPO) scored well soon after a Province Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) meeting was held last January 28.
A notorious drug personality here was arrested in a buy-bust and raid conducted by lawmen at his house in Baro, Asingan at 9:20 a.m. of Feb. 4.
Nabbed was Joey Ganzagan, 44, whose drug dealing activities are not limited in Asingan but also in nearby municipalities.
Joint elements of the Asingan Police and of PPPO’s intelligence unit, armed with a search warrant issued by Municipal Circuit Trial Court Judge Camilo Asuncion, raided Ganzanga’s house after the latter accepted a marked P500 bill for one sachet of shabu in the buy-operation.
Immediately after as undercover policeman, PO2 Ramil Ibay, acted as poseur buyer handed the cash, the raiding team rushed to serve the warrant in coordination with members of the barangay council.
Seized by the raiders from Ganzagan’s house were 11 plastic heat-sealed sachets of “shabu”, one hand grenade, one loaded improvised machine pistol type (cal. 38), one cal. 22 magnum; one cellphone, 13 pieces of assorted lighters, seven medical scissors, several opened plastic transparent sachets with shabu residues and several pieces of aluminum foil.
The confiscated items were brought to the Asingan police station for proper disposition while the 12 total plastic heats sealed sachets of “shabu” and the seven opened plastic sachets were submitted to the Provincial Crime Laboratory Office in Lingayen for laboratory tests.
A case of violation of Sections 5, 11, 12 and 15 of Republic Act 9165, violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act and violation of Presidential Decree 1866 (High Explosives) are being prepared against the suspect. (Leonardo Micua/Tita Roces)
