In Dagupan, the police personnel started wearing their badges wrapped with black ribbons as they mourn the deaths of the 44 Philippine National Police (PNP) Special Action Force (SAF) members who died in line of duty, particularly in Mamasapano, Maguindanao on January 25.

P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of DCPS, said the black ribbons are meant to honor their falled brothers in the PNP and to express their sympathy and condolences to their bereaved families.

A photo was uploaded by their chief Police Chief Inspector Ryan Manongdo, also a member of PNP-SAF Commando Class 35- 2005, with the caption, “… respect for your sacrifices, may our simple act of condolence and prayers be to you and your bereaved families.
