AMATEUR cyclist Francis Arenas of Binmaley took home the EBD Cycling cup after winning the 52-kilometer road race that started Dagupan and finished in Sual town.

Arenas stayed with the main pack at the flat trek until he decided to break away at the Suasalito climb to check in first at the summit and maintained the lead up to the finish to rule the EBD Cup Road Race 2015 last week.

Arenas, 32, with a 12-year exposure to amateur races, clocked the distance in one hour 22 minutes and 18 seconds outdistancing his closest pursuer and town mate Gerard Ferreria 24 seconds adrift.

Lingayen ace Ryan Bravo checked in third 38 seconds behind Arenas.
The race, organized by the Dagupan City Cycling Club headed by Ricky Diocares in conjunction with the celebration of Engr. Rodolfo “Boy” Dion’s birthday, was participated in by more than 50 contestants and was conducted in three categories. (JAG, Jr.)
