Pangasinan hosts 3rd leg of Le Tour De Filipinas, Feb. 2-4
LINGAYEN — Le Tour De Filipinas, considered as the country’s most prestigious cycling organization, has again selected the province of Pangasinan to host the 3rd stage of its 6th edition race slated on February 1-4.
Over 200 international and local cyclists will pass through Infanta, Dasol, Mabini, Alaminos City, Sual, Labrador, Bugallon and end the stage 3 of the race at the Capitol complex on February 3.
The elite race 2.2 (men category), sanctioned by Union Cycliste International, world governing body of cycling, has the following routes: Balanga Circuit Race (stage 1) on February 1; Balanga, Bataan to Iba, Zambales (stage 2) on February 2; Iba to Lingayen, Pangasinan (stage 3) February 3; and Lingayen to Baguio City via Kennon road (stage 4) on February 4.
Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr., who gives a high priority to sports development, has expressed full-support for the conduct of international cycling tournament in the province.
Awards for the top three stage finishers will be presented by Governor Espino on February 4 — shortly before he fires the gunstart for the last stage of the race.
Meanwhile, Executive Assistant III Modesto Operania said that preparations for the provincial government’s hosting are in full-swing particularly for the safety and security on the cyclists during their stay in the province.
Espino has already directed all local chief executives concerned, in coordination with police officials and staff, to accompllish the requirements prescribed in Memorandum Circular No. 2014-149 issued by Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas. (PIO)
