Pangasinan OKs P2.77-B budget
BULK FOR MODERNIZATION OF HOSPITALS
LINGAYEN–The provincial board passed on Monday a P2.77 billion budget for Pangasinan for year 2015 which is higher by almost P400 million over the current provincial budget of P2.3 million
Sixth District Board Member Alfonso Bince Jr., the designated spokesman of the SP, said they already passed the budget when they approved the committee report of the SP after winding up its budget hearing with department heads in attendance.
Bince said the biggest bulk of the budget in the amount of almost P1 billion was allotted to the health sector to ensure the continuation of the modernization of all the province’s hospitals.
There are 14 provincial government-run hospitals in the province that have yet to complete their modernization which was started by Gov. Amado Espino Jr. in 2007.
These hospitals, led by the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) in San Carlos City, were already made as “hospitals of choice” by Pangasinenses after the initial phase of modernization launched by the Espino administration.
He said part of the appropriations for these hospitals will be for acquisition of modern equipment such as x-rays, CT scan and others that will make the services of the hospitals comparable with the services of modern private hospitals in the province.
Bince said P220 million of the provincial budget will be used to amortize the remaining loan balance obtained by the province with Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) which was used for various projects in the past.
He said a committee created by the provincial board is now studying a request by the office of the provincial governor for another loan of yet undetermined amount for various other developmental projects.
He said the provincial board will hold every department of the provincial government accountable for their respective budgets.
