FOR ALLEGED MISCONDUCT

CALASIAO—Was it a case of women scorned when two policewomen decided to report and put on record the alleged rude behavior of their superior officer, the police chief no less?

P/Supt. Satur Ediong, town police chief, found himself on the receiving end of an alleged altercation after SPO1 Brenda Perez and PO1 Rosalie Benitez, both detailed at the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk, decided to record incident in the station’s police blotter, detailing the verbal abuse hurled against them and his unbecoming conduct.

But Ediong denied any serious altercation between them, contrary to the complaint filed in the police blotter.

Ediong was quoted for allegedly threatening the two female cops, “Babasagin ko yong mga mukha nyo, i-ontog ko kayo nyan. Huwag ninyong sasasbihin na babae kayo, papatulan ko kayo, antayin ninyo na mag-opisyal kayo.

The police chief also allegedly held a glass, smashed it on the table in a fit of anger, then grabbed his ball cap, threw it in the two cops direction, one after the other, then he pushed the table towards them.

The incident reportedly happened on Nov. 21, 8:30 p.m at the police station’s “Bahay Kubo.”

Ediong allegedly accused the complainants (Perez and Benitez) of constant tardiness and refused to hear their side.

But Ediong denied the allegation to the local media. “Di ko alam yan, walang problema sa amin,” he said when asked about the incident.

He, however, admitted that the two’s alleged tardiness and late reporting for work and failing to wear police uniform got his goat in the past, and a constant problem.

The two were relieved from their duties and were assigned temporarily at the Pangasinan Police Office in Lingayen town to defuse tension in the station and pending investigation of their complaint, said Senior Superintendent Reynaldo Biay, officer-in-charge police director in an interview Monday.
