Two suspected hitmen nabbed

SAN JACINTO—Elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Dagupan City and the Pangasinan police arrested two suspected members of a notorious gun-for-hire group in Pangasinan in simultaneous operations on Nov. 26 here.

P/ Senior Inspector Richard Palay, CIDG team leader in Dagupan City, said Carlos Castillo Jr alias Cadi, 30, was arrested in Barangay Bolo, San Jacinto town.

Seized from Castillo were one hand grenade MK2 fragmentation, five rounds of live ammunition and 15 empty pieces of empty shells for caliber .45.

Also arrested in Barangay Capaoay here was Anthony Soncuan, 42.

Confiscated from him were one caliber .380, one magazine for caliber .380 loaded with six live ammunition, 23 live ammunition, four empty shells and black holster for cal. 380.

The two suspects’ arrests were implemented through a search warrant issued separately by Presiding Judge Renato Pinlac of the Regional Trial Court Branch 57 in San Carlos City this province.

Palay said they were set to file charges against the arrested suspects Thursday at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Dagupan City.

The two were reportedly behind the gun slay of a lawyer in San Fabian few months ago. (Tita Roces)
