LINGAYEN– The Lingayen baywalk has definitely become a favorite hangout for a lot of people and a favored venue for various events.
During the Halloween celebration, hundreds of zumba enthusiasts gathered for a “Zombie Zumba.”
According to Congressman Leopoldo Bataoil, the prime mover of the event, the Halloween Zumba was suggested by regular zumba practitioners that wanted to add color to the observance of All Saints’ Day while promoting health and fitness.
Several months ago, Bataoil led zumba dance fitness on weekends. The event has since then become a regular affair every Saturday early morning.
The solon said the zumba has been gathering more number of participants weekly, with last week’s about 300.
The Halloween edition awarded cash prizes to 10 participants with Best Halloween Costumes and those who were Best in Thriller Dance.
Meanwhile, Bataoil said he is awaiting the Department of Public Works and Highways Second Engineering District’s program of work for the expansion of the baywalk.
He added he has been meeting with architects, engineers, and historical experts, among others, for the implementation of the Casa Real restoration project and it was the consensus that all the funds from different offices for the project: P30-million from the General Appropriations Act, P15-million from the Department of Tourism, and P5-million from the Office of the Governor, be integrated.
