Pangasinan earns nat’l award for corn production

LINGAYEN —- It’s two in a row for the Pangasinan province!

The provincial government was cited anew as the Most Outstanding Province in the 2014 Agri Pinoy Quality Corn Achievers and will receive P3 million worth of agricultural related projects.

The award will be presented in Cagayan de Oro City on November 19.

The Department of Agriculture’s Regional Field Office in San Fernando, La Union will also award Dalisay A. Moya as the Most Outstanding Provincial Agriculturist with a cash prize of P40,000.

Other awardees include Venancio B. Valeroso and Cristina A. Sison being the Most Outstanding Provincial Corn Coordinator and Most Outstanding Agricultural Extension Workers with a cash prize of P30,000 and P20,000 respectively.

Fifth District BM Danilo Uy, chairman on the Committee on Agriculture, will receive the award for the provincial government.

Launched in 2013, the National Quality Corn Achievers Awards by the DA to recognize the exemplary efforts of the LGUs, provincial agriculturists and agricultural extension workers and corn coordinators to push the development of corn industry in the country.

Pangasinan has been adjudged anew as one the country’s top corn producing provinces as its production level exceeded the regional, as well as national, average targets.

The P3-million project grant for the province will be allocated for farm productivity infrastractures, post-harvest facilities, farm equipment and other agricultural relevant projects. (PIO)
