DCNHS slates Grand Homecoming, Dec. 27-28

THERE is a notable excitement in the air among alumni of the Dagupan City National High School when they talk about this year’s edition of the annual alumni homecoming all because Class 64’s Golden Jubilee in December promises to be fun-filled and memorable.

Class 1964 led by class governor and valedictorian Dante Velasco, now UP-Diliman communications head, has tapped a multi-awarded director to help manage the much-awaited event.

At the same time, alumni association president Manuel Roy of Class 68 said he has been meeting with his co-officers at the Abong na Alumni to hammer out details of the 2-day program.

The homecoming activity has two events, DCNHS Day on Dec. 27 on the campus and the Alumni Night on December 28 at the City Auditorium.

Aida Galang of Class 89 said she is harmonizing the coordination that involves her batch headed by Jaime Villena, with the Class 64 Golden Jubilarians, Class 69 headed by Ramon Palisoc, Class 74 headed by Dr. Efren Jovellanos and Class 84 headed by Meynard Agustin.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez will be the homecoming’s guest speaker.

Over the years, the school has produced many outstanding alumni that earned national and world recognition that include two National Artists Victorio Edades and Salvador Bernal.

“City High” alumni will proudly parade their colors during the December homecoming to make known that they have been educated by the premier secondary school in Dagupan City since 1945.

The alumni are credited for the construction of the Abong na Alumni building which was finished in 2012 during the presidency of Atty. Liberato Reyna of Class 63.

Meanwhile, Councilor Jig Seen, this year’s Hermano Mayor, said the world-famous National Philharmonic Orchestra will perform in the city during the Christmas season.
