Dagupenos in America hail Milpitas, Dagupan sisterhood pact

OFFICERS and members of the different associations of Dagupeños in the United States of America hailed the renewal of the sisterhood ties between the cities of Milpitas and Dagupan for another five years at the Milpitas City Hall on October 7.
Mayor Belen Fernandez thanked the officers and members of the Dagupan City Association of North California, the Dagupenians Association of America and the Association of Dagupenos who came to witness the historic event.
The Dagupan City Association of North California is headed by Marlene M. Garibay while Bernard Valdez is the president of the Dagupenians Association of America and Rene Llamas is the president of the Association of Dagupenos.
Fernandez is also thankful to Ben and Pressy Dimapilis for being foster parents to the five exchange students and for accommodating Liezl S. Cancino, Education Program Supervisor; Julito and Belinda dela Cruz who accommodated the mayor and other members of the delegation; Ben and Eva Aquino, Rizal Ico, Tessie de Guzman and Evelyn Ramirez for hosting the delegation in their homes; and Jess and Claire Ugto where Fernandez stayed with and for providing the entourage a ride.
Ditto to Romy and Lydia Ceralde and Dr. Lina Balolong for accommodating the councilors in their houses; Rod and Helen Ugto Cantada, Jan and Gilda Cereno, and Linda Bernal for providing the delegation a ride; Commissioner Pepe Rosario, Bernard and Arsie Valdez, Maxray and Marlene Garibay, Epee Rafanan, Danny Umali and Leslie Stobbe for their care, support and constant presence; Rachelle, a staff of Mayor Esteves, the Milpitas City commissioners, and the foster parents for making the student exchange a huge success.
Fernandez also sends her gratitude to Mayor Jose Esteves and wife Susan.
Esteves, a native of Dagupan, signed with Mayor Fernandez the renewed sisterhood agreement which was last signed in 2009 when Fernandez was still the vice mayor of Dagupan. The first agreement was made in 2003 by former Vice Mayor Alvin Fernandez who later became city administrator.
Mayor Fernandez expressed her gratitude to the mammoth support given by the associations and to the hospitality they have accorded while she and her entourage were in Milpitas City and other parts of California.
The signing was also witnessed by Councilors Karlos Liberato E. Reyna IV, Alipio Serafin D. Fernandez and Alvin T. Coquia with Milpitas Vice Mayor Althea Polanski and council members Debbie Indihar Giordano, Armando Gomez and Carmen Montano, all of Milpitas City. (CIO)
