DETERIORATING PEACE & ORDER

LINGAYEN–In a bid to get a more factual explanation about the perceived deteriorating peace and order in the province, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) decided to invite the heads of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) offices in Pangasinan on September 29, 2014.

CARTOONnews 140928The resolution inviting officer-in-charge police provincial director, Senior Superintendent Reynaldo Biay, and NAPOLCOM provincial director, Atty. Edwin Mapili, to appear before the SP question hour, made specific reference to “a spate of shooting incidents and other lawlessness (that) have caused untold anguish and fear among Pangasinenses.” to update the August body on the peace and order situation of the province.

Among the high profile cases cited were “the Pangasinan National High School shooting rampage incident, the ambush of broadcaster Orly Navarro, the grenade throwing incident in Bugallon, and other crimes involving women and children as victims, not to mention also the problem of riding-in-tandem shooting incidents, that “need to be looked deeper into by concerned law enforcement agencies.” (Johanne R.
