The President’s boss – people or Chief PNP?

A number of dedicated and still idealistic police officers in Pangasinan are reportedly dismayed by the recent statement of President Aquino quickly absolving Chief PNP Alan Purisima of any responsibility over the involvement of policemen in rampant hulidap cases, protection of crime syndicates, kidnapping and murders as hired guns.

They fear that since PNoy did not acknowledge the serious problems besting their organization, the criminal minds among them will take it as a signal to close ranks and collaborate further to protect their rackets that victimize and hurt the public and the PNP’s image.

President’s “bosses” are beginning to be disappointed at his tendency to even be more protective of his subordinates i.e., DBM Sec. Butch Abad, DA Sec. Proceso Alcala, whose resignations have been demanded by sectors among his bosses, instead of the people, his avowed “bosses.” Now comes Chief PNP Purisima who has made it a point to be scarce to media in spite of demands for him to explain his responsibility for the spate of crimes under his watch.

But lo and behold, it’s PNoy and DILG Sec. Mar Roxas are taking the flak for Mr. Purisima. Is the chief PNP the new “boss” of PNoy? Not the people whom PNoy has sworn to protect?

Amen to amend

ISN’T President Aquino trying to make a fool of us, his Boss, if not himself?

First, he said he might seek a second term.  Second, he said he might not.  Third, he said he might yet go for re-election, saying, “I might be even better the second time around.”

He knows that the Constitution bars him from seeking re-election and he talks garbage?  Very un-President-like.

Mr. Aquino’s tenure ends in barely 550 days or so. For him to be able to run again, we need to amend the Constitution.  A Charter change comes at a staggering tune of P7 billion, according to Comelec chairman Sixto Brilliantes.

But OK then, on to Charter change to give way to Mr. Aquino’s foolishness.  Let’s say amen to amend the Constitution because, you know what?  His Boss may yet hit him with the most painful spank of his life come the May 2016 polls.

He might be even better the second time around? Ugh! The gall.
