Body formed to uphold students’ rights
CONTRA-BULLYING
DETERMINED to stop bulling in schools, Mayor Belen T. Fernandez formed the first school organization to monitor and act on bullying incidents in the school.
The mayor inducted members of the Bonuan Boquig National High School (BBNHS) Child Protection Committee last Thursday coinciding with the launching of the anti-bullying policy in the school.

The committee, composed of school officials, teachers, parents, students, and barangay representatives, was organized to protect students’ rights and promote a zero-tolerance policy for any act of child abuse or discrimination.
Linda Ventenilla, BBNHS principal, said the committee will coordinate with the school, the PTA, and the barangay council in addressing incidents of bullying in the school.
“The council will also give the necessary support to children and their parents,” said Ventenilla.
The Dagupan City Federation of Parents-Teachers Association (FPTA) launched its first anti-bullying campaign at the Dagupan City National High School last month.
Fernandez expressed hope that every student in the city will be actively support the advocacy to stop bullying in schools. (CIO/Patrick Cendreda)
