LYCEUM Northwestern University Dukes power-forward Alexander Andrade poured in 27 marks including an important sealing point free throw in the last 5.9 seconds to narrowly nip the visiting La Finns Lion Hearts of La Union, 98-97, in a tune-up game held at Salvador T. Duque Field House on September 3.

Dukes leading by a mere point, 70-69, at the end of the third quarter, trailed by seven points, 80-73, at the halfway of the fourth and final period, but regained their composure in the last 3:13 minutes under the heroic efforts of George Alipio, Aljick Aquino, Rodcel Yanga and Andrade combining 11 points to stun the guests.

The win avenged the Dukes 83-81 championship game defeat in the 2014 Pangabenga Basketball Festival held on April 12 at Easter College gym in Baguio City.

Alipio scored a game high 28 points with Yanga contributing 14 mostly done inside the paint.  Jonel Yasay scored a team high 18 marker for the losing effort. (JAG, Jr.)
