Prov’l Gov’t Educates 7,000 Pupils on Basic Health Care

Lingayen – More than 7,000 pupils from eight public schools in Pangasinan have benefitted from the provincial government’s health advocacy program dubbed as  “Pangasinan Go… Four for a Better Health” held from June 26 to August 6.

The program which was implemented through the Provincial Health Office (PHO) aimed to teach every school children the value of health by way of proper dental care, proper hand washing, proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle that will help prevent common diseases such as dengue and diarrhea.

The provincial government, through a video presentation, shows to some 399 pupils from Malindong Elementary School in Binmaley the appropriate response should an earthquake occur.

It can be recalled that under the tenure of Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr., innovative programs and projects were implemented that brought unprecedented breakthroughs in health thrust of the present administration.

According to Dr. Athena Marie Merrera, Chief of the Lingayen District Hospital, the activity is part of the public health awareness direction of Gov. Espino that seeks to realize the goal to transform Pangasinan home of the healthiest Filipinos.

The activity was conducted in different public schools of Bugallon, Labrador, Mangatarem, Lingayen, Aguilar and Binmaley.

Last August 6, some 399 pupils of Malindong Elementary School in Binmaley were educated by the Public Health Team of LDH. (EjS)
