P159M infra projects in Dagupan set by DPWH
EVEN without the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) from Congress, Dagupan is assured of continued support for the development of its infrastructure by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Fourth District Rep. Gina de Venecia said 11 roads, bridges and flood control projects worth P159 million are ongoing or scheduled to be implemented this year.
Speaking at the commemorative program marking the 67th charter anniversary of Dagupan at the CSI Stadia last week, De Venecia said she and Mayor Belen Fernandez sought the implementaion of these projects by DPWH through their inclusion in the General Appropriations Act approved by Congress.
Among the ongoing projects are the widening of the Lucao Bridge, worth P20 million; widening of the Lucao Road, P27 million; widening of the Mangeragday Bridge in Bonuan Binloc, P45 million; repair of the drainage system in Bonuan Gueset, P3 million ; and construction of a drainage system along the Judge Jose de Venecia Highways, P3 million.
The repair and reconstruction of Pantal Road worth P2.5 million will start this week.
Bidding has just been completed for the construction of a riverbank protection along the Sinocalan River to prevent flooding in Barangays Malued, Pogo Grande, Lasip Grande and Lasip Chico, which will cost P40 million, and for the upgrading of the Tambac-Tebeng Road worth P11 million.
Lined up for construction are the Pogo Road, P2.5 million; Tapuac Road, P3 million; and road in Pugaro, P2 million.
These infrastructure projects are separate from those initiated by the city government using local funds and road users’ fund and allocations from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
At the same time, following the request of DILG Secretary Mar Roxas and De Venecia, DPWH also sent three dredging machines to Dagupan to address the heavily-silted rivers in the city.–LVM
